I’m Jeff...a Christian, husband, dad, designer, and inventor.
This is the 5 minute summary of a 30 year journey.
In 1995, my career began in manufacturing with a machine operator position for a plastic injection mold company in Northern Michigan. I learned a lot about processing plastic, how injection molds operate, and what a quality part looks like. It was a good job with a great company…but I felt the need to expand my knowledge. So, my family and I relocated to an area well known for manufacturing…metro Detroit, aka “The Motor City.”
A top notch injection mold making company was advertising for their mold making apprenticeship program. I applied and was accepted. Over those next few years, I attended college part-time while working full-time. I learned to run saws, mills, grinders, drills, CNCs, lathes, and various other machinery. The complete assembly and disassembly of molds and fixtures became second nature to me. I completed my apprenticeship and then continued on to earn an AAS degree in Manufacturing Technology.
Those accomplishments inspired a second apprenticeship in Plastic Mold Design. This time, I spent the next few years working full-time in the CAD department while also attending college part-time. This second apprenticeship was followed by an AAS degree in Product Development.
A couple of years later, I was offered an adjunct teaching position in the Manufacturing Department at the same college where I had earned my degrees. I have continued teaching a variety of design, manufacturing, and machining classes there part-time, almost every semester, for over a decade.
I also have extensive experience with 3D printing. This started as a hobby, with one small filament printer, and has grown into a small business in itself...with a few larger filament printers, and a couple of resin printers. I have designed and 3D printed parts for individuals, inventors, small companies, and large corporations.
I enjoy what I do, and hope that my knowledge and experience can be a benefit to you or your company.
